Manufacturing has served an important role in the U.S. economy, and the industry continues to play a critical role today. Especially in Reno, Nevada. From Tesla batteries to industrial products to consumer goods, the manufacturing sector is diverse and continues to develop and evolve. National Manufacturing Day (MFG) is celebrated each year on the first Friday of October. Organized nationally by the Manufacturing Institute, the special day is an annual opportunity to inspire the next generation and show them what modern manufacturing is all about. This year Tesla is excited to offer virtual tours and interviews with Tesla manufacturing professionals.
Middle school students, high school students, and teachers are invited to experience virtual factory tours of Tesla sites and hear directly from Tesla manufacturing professionals. Register for a Tesla Tour

Reno’s Role in the Future of Manufacturing
As manufacturers seek to fill 4 million high-skill, high-tech, and high-paying jobs over the next decade, it’s even more important to empower the future generation and encourage their involvement.
Earlier this year, Reno, Nevada was selected as the number two, top, midsize city where manufacturing is thriving. Size aside, Reno fills the number 3 top city seat nationwide for booming manufacturing operations.
The Reno economy has attracted major investments from technology companies based in California and Washington, such as Amazon and Google. Most importantly for the manufacturing industry is the location of the Tesla gigafactory in Reno. This electric vehicle battery manufacturing plant has led to rapid growth in manufacturing output and manufacturing jobs in Reno.
The manufacturing output of Reno was $3.4 billion in 2019, which was $7,054 on a per-capita basis. Manufacturing output grew by 15.3% annualized over the study period. The city also has 124% more manufacturing jobs than the national average. (source)
